-->60th kesenian tedja timur anniversary - a big bang!

16/08/08 marks the celebration of the 60th Kesenian Tedja Timur Anniversary. It was a BIG BANG held here at Malay Village with a large crowd at both the performance and the kuda kepang trance!

The event was held at our very own Singghasana Hall in collaboration with NUS and MCYS.

Let's take a look at the photos of the event!

The crowds flooded the hall more than half an hour before the event started! That's really some strong support from people from all age groups and races!

All waiting for a wonderful performance to celebrate the 60th Kesenian Tedja Timur Anniversary!

These fans were given out for free. Of course, there isn't a need for it in the air-conditioned Singghasana Hall but they would sure need it for the Kuda Kepang Trance held in the open-air carpark later on.

Remember the instruments from the post before? Now we have the players as well!

Getting all ready for the grand performance!

And of course, our dancers and performers.

Don't they look elegant!

All the ladies!

In the center we have the organiser, more familiarly known as 'Wandi' with the 'Queen' of the show.

The male performers in their fancy costumes. The red ones and white one are playing the role of monkeys. Can you see the semblance?

Our guests of honour for the day! The mentor of the Kesenian Tedja Timur group, affectionately known as Mr. Wakwest and The property manager of Malay Village, Mr. Joseph Chan.

The VIPs. :)

Remember Mr. Wakwest? Coincidentally, the day of celebration happens to be this couple's wedding anniversary as well! Congratulations!

This is our Wayang Kulit GURU.

Now you see it on screen, ...

And now, IT'S LIFE!

The King Rama! Look at the vibrant colours of his grand costume!

And a little deer who was turned into a deer by the demon you saw on the Wayang Kulit screen just now. It'd be a little draggy to put the whole synopsis up here but mail us if you want a brief synopsis of the story. :)

This is the mediator monkey who helped bring the Queen and the King together.

And as all fairy tales end, they lived happily ever after.

After the performance, there was a procession to the Kuda Kepang Trance performance at the open-space carpark.

And the Kuda Kepang!

LOOK AT THE CROWD THAT TURNED UP TO WATCH THIS PERFORMANCE!!!

and it was sure worth the watch!

The Kuda Kepang Trance performance takes place EVERY SATURDAY in the open-air carpark behind the management office of Malay Village, bring your family down for this interesting performance and bond with the community as well!

After the Kuda Kepang performance, there was a post-performance celebration where everyone gathered around to sing the birthday song for Kesenian Tedja Timur.

Can you feel the spirit?! IT WAS HIGH! And that's the special thing here in Malay Village, you can feel the KAMPONG SPIRIT ALL THE WAY!

IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS! CONGRATULATIONS TO KESENIAN TEDJA TIMUR and thank you ALL for the great support!

If you've missed this event, fret not, we have more event coming up, especially during the fasting month and there is Kuda Kepang every Saturday to look forward to as well!

We'll see you guys again!
